The returned exiles were in a time of transition. In this passage and through the prophet Haggai, the LORD God challeges the remnant in Jerusalem to consider how they have prioritised Him. Their response to God’s word was to obey Him and to “fear the LORD.” Pastor Richard encourages his listeners to do the same through consecrating Jesus as Lord in our hearts, cultivating a healthy understanding of the fear of the LORD, and living out the truth that God is with.
