Being sent like Jesus – both incarnational and attractional

Working from John 20:19-23 and Acts 2:42-47, Richard gives a case for church to be both incarnational and attractional in how they work out that command of Jesus in John 20:21. The case for Jesus being incarnational is clear in the Gospels. However, Jesus is also attractional in the ways He wants to be. Others are attracted to Him by what He does in miracles and teaching. Jesus however rejects that model in favour of another. Acts 2:42-47 demonstrates for us how the church was both incarnational and attractive at the same time. The proof of their success is found in how they had favour with people and that God added to their number daily those who were being saved.
